Search Copyrighted Songs

Steven Kern wants his MIDI files off the web and we would like to help him in this effort. We feel the best way to do that is to search for his MIDI files and let people know how he feels.

Please pick a song from the list below and search as many websites as you have time for.

When you get there, check the file. If the copyright information has Steven Kern, TMI or Trycho anywhere on it, write them a short note, letting the webmaster know of Steve's desires. (Sample letter at the bottom of page)

If you find the MIDI file, that you went looking, for is legitimate freeware or shareware, then look at some of the other MIDI files that are on the web page. If you find ANY that are stripped or have a commercial copyright of any kind, again, please let them know.

The most important files, are in yellow.

These titles have been found in the Library of Congress as being copyrighted by Mr. Kern. Although you do not need to have registered your MIDI file, in order to file a lawsuit, you do get more money, if you have the file copyrighted.

Here is a search engine that you can use to do your search.

MIDI SEARCH ENGINE

Just put in the title of the song and click on "Search".

THE LIST

[1 - E] [F - I] [J - O] [P - S] [T - Z]

The songs that are copyrighted are listed in yellow.
The songs that have already been searched are in blue.

The * at the beginning of a title, means that it is copyrighted but is not on the list, of songs that are available, on the Trycho website.
The * means that the song is copyrighted but someone has done a search and warned the webmaster.

This list is as of September 2000
That does not mean that this is the entire list of MIDI files that are floating around the web that "belong" to Mr. Kern.
All it means is, this is what we have found.

At the bottom, of each page, is a sample letter.
You may copy and paste or write your own.

When you have finished a search for a song,
write to John and I will update the pages to reflect that the search on that song has been done.

Sample letter

I have just come from your site and have found that you have some copyrighted MIDI files and/or stripped (files with no information) files.

The page I was on was (copy the URL here)

Are you aware of Steven Kern/Trycho Music International and the lawsuits he has filed for copyright infringement? He filed 27 in the year 2000, each for over 1 Million dollars. As far as we know, he has won each time, either by default or settling out of court.
